Heavenly Creator as Psalm 28 shows David once again crying out to God, and praising God for the hearing and answering of his prayer, we praise you for hearing and answering our prayers. On this day, a week before we open our annual conference, we ask you to hear our supplications.
Precious Lord, may your Spirit begin a mighty move in our hearts as we prepare for the North Georgia annual conference. Open our hearts to the possibilities of hearing what each of your children has to offer. We ask you to bring light to both possibilities and realities of all the issues that we must address while we gather. Please draw us always to consider what you would have us be and do in this season of challenges and opportunities.
Remind us that we are called to be bearers of Christ's life, light, and love to all we meet. As your people, we ask you to guide us in a way that we will continue to speak your Word with freedom, boldness and courage. As David so eloquently stated is his praise and prayer, we recognize that we can do nothing apart from You. Please grant us wisdom to rightly represent You throughout our season together. We thank you in advance for hearing and answering our prayer.
It is in your Son, Jesus the Christ’s name we pray.
Amen, Amen, Amen
—Rev. Karen Elaine Webster Parks, St James UMC Alpharetta
NOTE: A "collect" (call-ect) is a simple, focused prayer.
Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise him
Psalm 28:6-7
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
