35 Days of Prayer and Preparation

Collect

Almighty God, we cry out to you during our days of trouble.  We look for you and yet we refuse to be comforted by you, we refuse to hear your call, we moan and complain as our spirits grow tired.  Forgive us, we pray.

At times we are so overwhelmed we cannot sleep.  At times, our hearts are so troubled, we cannot speak.  In your mercy, hear our prayer.

Remind us in these days, O Lord, to remember your faithful love, to remember your great deeds, to remember your acts from long ago.  Remind us to meditate on your promises, meditate on your holy word, and meditate as we remember your wondrous works and mighty power.

Hear our prayers of thanksgiving as we remember you are our God.  You redeem your people.  You are faithful always.  In Jesus’ precious and holy name, we pray.

—Rev. Debby Stikes, Griffin First United Methodist Church

NOTE: A "collect" (call-ect) is a simple, focused prayer.

Psalm

About the Prayer and Preparation Project
Each day from April 30 to June 3 you will be prompted with a Psalm to read, a short breath prayer or collect (call-ect) written by a North Georgia United Methodist, and prayers of invocation.

We invite you to share this with your family, small group, congregation, and Christian community. Whether you are attending Annual Conference or not, we pray this will better prepare all of us for true holy conferencing.
