The Commission on the General Conference has postponed the 2020 General Conference until May 2024, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect mass gatherings and travel.

The 2020 United Methodist General Conference, originally set for May 5-15, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been postponed a third time due to health safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.

The North Georgia Conference delegation to General Conference is chaired by Rev. Dr. Byron Thomas. There are 862 delegates to the postponed 2020 General Conference from around the world. The North Georgia Conference has 22 delegates.

North Georgia United Methodists are invited to join the delegation in fasting each Thursday.
