Grief and Resurrection: 23 Churches to Complete the Process of Closing
The members of the 2020 North Georgia Annual Conference will vote to approve the closing of 23 churches. In circumstances when keeping a church open is no longer sustainable, our denomination has guidelines in place to direct the congregation and its leadership through the process of closing. Each of the following congregations have followed that process. This is always a somber time for the Conference session and a time to lift up our faith in God's promise of resurrection. The closing churches are:

Concord UMC, Lafayette
Corinth UMC, Hogansville
Fair Oaks UMC, Marietta
Midway UMC, LaGrange
Mt. Airy UMC, LaGrange
Mt. Ararat UMC, Eatonton
