Fire Destroys Oconee St UMC in Athens, Home to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen

Oconee Street UMC in Athens sustained major damage in a late-night fire. The church is home to Our Daily Bread soup kitchen which feeds breakfast and lunch to homeless in Athens seven days a week. The Action Ministries – Feed the Hungry Golf Tournament at Cherokee Town and Country Club April 1 raised approximately $50,000 and introduced Action Ministries to dozens of golfers. Coach Bill Curry, recently retired head coach at Georgia State University, kicked off the event by reminding attendees that Action Ministries is one of the best vehicles available in which to invest to help struggling families in Georgia. Coach Bill Curry to Host Two Action Ministries Fundraisers this Spring
