Tornado Buckets: A New Tool in Disaster Response

Earlier this month, The Nett UMC included a pilot project for Disaster Response as part of their Mission Sunday—Tornado Buckets.  Just as UMCOR Cleaning Buckets (or "Flood Buckets") include key, immediate needs of those experiencing hurricane and flooding, Tornado Buckets are filled with supplies needed immediately after a tornado or wind damage. We celebrate with Rev. Woojin Kang and The Nett UMC as "At the Table Norcross" launched monthly dinner worship services in historic downtown Norcross in February.  This newest campus of The Nett began with a calling to create a space for young people to experience church and the love of God in a new way.  In related news, the Conference celebrates The Nett for being named one of the Top 100 Reproducing Churches in the country by Outreach Magazine!

Madras UMC Launches in Newnan with Weekly Worship

On Sunday, January 22, Madras United Methodist Church launched in the South West District of the North Georgia Conference. This new church start now begins weekly worship. "Sunday was probably one of the most incredible experiences of my life," said lead pastor Rev. Fede Apecena. Pastor Brings Chess Club to Kids in His Apartment Complex

This fall Rev. Josh Miles of Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta started a chess club for kids at his apartment complex. With support from the church, 20 young people participated weekly over pizza.
