15 North Georgia Conference Secretaries Present for the Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries Conference in Asheville, North Carolina


Almost 200 United Methodist Church Secretaries gathered in Asheville North Carolina for April 3rd-April 6th for educational seminars, worship, and sightseeing.

Workshops and seminars were all led by locals such as Catherine Ritch Guess, an ordained Deacon and Sylvia McClintick, a pastor’s spouse who owns her own company, Organizing Chaos, who spoke on organization, time management and prioritizing to make life in an office easier.

Jennifer Davis, Director of Discipleship Ministry for the WNCC spoke on “Self-Care/Soul Care” and “Creating Your Personal ‘Playbook’”. Rev. Beth Crissman, an Elder appointed as the CEO of Plowpoint Ministries spoke on “Navigating the Storms of Our Relationships and Ministries” and “Moving from Good Things to God Things”.

Bishop Larry Goodpaster and Dr. John Boggs, superintendent of the Blue Ridge District led worship and the Memorial Service on Thursday night, and Rev. Amy Coles, superintendent of the Smoky Mountain District led devotions on Friday morning. Other involved Ashelville clergy were included in worship during the conference, including Rev. Sonny Reavis and Rev. Linda Kelly.

The Western North Carolina Conference hosted 15 North Georgia Conference secretaries during this annual event which will take place in Atlanta in 2015.

Bishop Watson will be preaching and workshop leaders will include Phil Schroeder, Jasmine Smothers, Quincy Brown and Cathy Lee Phillips.
