Peace with Justice Dollars at Work: Cedar Grove UMC Food Pantry and Clothes Closet

Reaching Out to Help Others Through God’s Amazing Grace
Using a Peace with Justice Grant from the North Georgia Conference, Cedar Grove UMC in Conley established a Food Pantry and Clothes Closet last year.
“It is an integral part of transforming lives in our community,” said Pat Lee from Cedar Grove.
Through June 2015, more than 190 boxes of food have been distributed. Based on the area demographics, 500 to 600 adults and children received a meal through the Food Pantry this year. Many families also received clothes and toiletry items. By the end of the calendar year, it is estimated that the people served will double from last year’s total.
“We could not have achieved this without God continuing to fill our shelves with healthy and fresh produce, non-perishable food items, fresh breads and other needed items. This help came through a generous grant from Peace with Justice, donations and support from our congregation, the support of Action Ministries, fresh produce donations from Nickey Gregory Co, LLC, baked goods donated by COSTCO and various donations from other businesses” says Lee.
