Epworth UMC in Candler Park Welcomes Guest Preacher
This Sunday morning, Epworth UMC welcomes Steven Porrello as their guest preacher. He began preaching at a skate park ministry in Newnan when he was 16. With seven years of skateboard experience, and no background in church leadership, Porrello learned preaching and theology by reading "Christian inspiration" books. Six years later, he graduated LaGrange College with a Bachelors of Art degree in Religion/Philosophy and English. Now, whether he's traveling, skateboarding, or preaching, Porrello loves to learn, write, and teach. Listen to what he has to say on Sunday at 10:50 a.m.!

FoodStock 2014 on August 16th at Dunwoody UMC
This  is the largest, single day food packaging event in metro Atlanta.  This year’s goal is to package 300,000 meals in one day to.  This year’s event, entitled FoodStock 2014, takes place on Saturday, August 16th
The meals packaged are all dried products (rice / soy / protein / dehydrated vegetables / seasoning) and the setting is in an assembly line type process.  The volunteers only have to give 2 hours of their time to the event (one shift) and it is very easy and very fun and very family friendly. It is a lot of fun and a really rewarding experience.
This is a mission participation event, no money is requested from those that attend (the meals are already fully funded), unless they choose to donate voluntarily.  They just need participants to get it all done.  In fact they need 1,100 participants to get it done.  They succeeded last year and plan to do it again this year and send the shipping container straight to the port to ship the food off immediately.
Most other questions are addressed in the link below.  Hope to see you at this year’s event.
Hillside UMC Accepting Entries for “Nature of God Art Show” in November
Hillside UMC of Woodstock is having a juried art show and concert at our church November 7th.  It is called "The Nature of God".  The purpose of the art show is to give Christian artists an opportunity to use their gifts to glorify God.  They are also helping a local food ministry.  As a Christian artist, there are few places that will accept Christian work.  There are many Christian artists, but very few venues or opportunities to share the work that God does through us, so we created this evening of celebration!  The church is very excited, but needs help or suggestions to get the word out.  They welcome any help or advice that you may be able to give.  DOWNLOAD FLYER HERE
