Lay servants from across the Southeastern Jurisdiction gathered in Decatur July 17-19 for a weekend of business, classes, and worship.
Eight states were represented by lay speakers, with a total of about 120 in attendance. Classes offered ranged from basic English and Spanish to Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts and leadership of various ministries.
Guest Speakers included Jodi Cataldo, Director of Laity in Leadership of the General Board of Discipleship, and Bishop B. Michael Watson, who hosted the closing worship Saturday evening. He spoke to a joyful group, with wise words and contagious enthusiasm.
“Tag, you’re it,” Watson said, as he expressed the importance of lay servants’ work, and explained how everyone in attendance has responsibilities to serve as God’s people.
There were smiles all around as the event came to a close. Attendees left joyful, connected, and ready to serve.
