UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat to Combine Hands-on Mission, Worship, Inspiration and Faith

The North Georgia Conference UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat is scheduled for September 26th-28th in Eatonton. This will be the 53rd year that the North Georgia Conference United Methodist Men have met at Rock Eagle. Over the years the organization has provided the platform and leadership that has enabled many men to accept Christ into their lives. Our men have also been given the tools to return home and grow their christian lives as men in their churches, communities, homes and businesses.
Keynote speaker will be Rev. Olu Brown from Impact UMC. Olu's mega church is currently working to add its forth service on Sundays. Their sanctuary current seats about 800 people per service. Olu will be providing the messages for our four worship services over the weekend.
Leaders for the weekend will be:
  • District Superintendent Gary Whetstone
  • District Superintendent Richard Winn
  • District Superintendent Jim Lowry
  • District Superintendent Richard Chewning
  • Allen Stewart
  • Joe Peabody
  • Al Coppedge
  • and others
About the Retreat Weekend
PET (Personal Energy Transportation) workshop
We will assemble ten units and prepare them for shipment into third world countries.
Society of St. Andrew potato drop
44,000 pounds of potatoes will be delivered by truck on Friday afternoon. Men will load the 10 pound bags in their trucks, cars, trailers and transport them to various food banks across North Georgia
Red Cross Blood Drive
The Red Cross will be set up for blood donations on Saturday afternoon in Sutton Hall
Other activities will include the zip line, climbing wall, canoeing, putt-putt golf and a meet and greet for young men.
This year is a landmark year for UMMen as they make changes to broaden the men's retreat. A Saturday-only option is designed specifically for young adults. Mentors, fathers, or grandfathers are asked to encourage young men in their church and family to join them for this afternoon and evening. This will help then experience and our UMMen Igniting Faith Retreat at Rock Eagle weekend.
Several workshops will be offered in Spanish.
