Conference Website Wins Top Honors From Communicators

10/30/2009

The North Georgia Conference website, which was redesigned and launched in April, has earned honors as the best overall site in the denomination.

United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) named ngumc.org as the best website in its field at the UMAC annual meeting, Oct. 21 in Nashville.

Secular judges, with backgrounds in Internet technology, praised ngumc.org as “a great website that is user friendly with intuitive layout and navigation.” The North Georgia Conference web team -- Michael Murphy McCarthy, Keeancha Hawkins, Melisa Alagon, Tim McDaniel, and Sybil Davidson – were lauded for their design and organizational work.

“In 2008, we looked at our old website and knew that something needed to change,” said McDaniel. “It needed to be more user-friendly and offer more up to date content while being visually pleasing.

“We started an in-depth process of focus groups, sketches, and surveys, and now have an excellent site that serves our lay and clergy users very well.  We are very happy with our end product.”
