Applications are being accepted through Jan. 6 for the 8th annual Young Clergy Capitol Hill Leadership Forum, sponsored by the United Methodist General Board of Church & Society (GBCS). The Jan. 30-Feb. 2 forum will be held at the historic United Methodist Building, next door to the Supreme Court and across the street from the U.S. Capitol. Annual conferences are encouraged to send up to two persons, age 35 and under, who may be either Elders or Deacons serving a local church fulltime. GBCS advocacy staff will discuss key legislative issues under consideration on Capitol Hill. The forum will provide creative, participatory ways to teach the social principles of The United Methodist Church in congregations. Resources that support nurture, outreach and witness will be presented. Attendees will worship in the historic Simpson Memorial Chapel at the United Methodist Building. Since 2004, more than 350 have participated in these young clergy gatherings, which also provide ample time for networking among attendees. Registration is limited to 65 people. To avoid confusion, nominees should be cleared through their conference office of Connectional Ministries.
Registration fee is $135. Attendees or their conferences are responsible for covering travel expenses to and from Washington, D.C. Hotel, meals and program costs in Washington will be paid by GBCS. Continuing Education Credits: 1.5. For registration forms and more details, visit www.umc-gbcs.org or call Julie Wilson at (202) 488-5650 or the Rev. Neal Christie at (202)-488-5611.
