DREAM Sabbath Toolkit available for download

9/14/2011

A free downloadable toolkit is available to congregations to who would like to participate in the DREAM Sabbath on a Sunday between Sept. 16-Oct. 9. The packet includes planning resources, sacred readings, reflections, links to videos and sample bulletin inserts.

DREAM Sabbath is an opportunity for congregations to dedicate time during or around their regular weekly worship service to a conversation about the DREAM Act. The bill, “Development, Relief & Education for Alien Minors (DREAM),” gives undocumented students a chance to earn legal status if they came to the United States as children, are long-term U.S. residents, have good moral character, and complete two years of college or military service in good standing. The observance is being developed in cooperation with Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill. and Sen. Orin Hatch, R-Utah.
