Candler choir hits all the high notes in Tampa

The Candler Singers showed off their singing chops as well as their versatility in a series of performances at General Conference.

The choir, under the direction of Barbara Day Miller, was the only seminary choir chosen to perform at the 2012 General Conference.
Before they hit the various stages at the Tampa convention center, they performed their spring program, "Life is Stronger than Death: Songs of Hope and Resurrection" for Florida retirement communities and local churches.
At General Conference, the singers performed three times on April 30, and started the next day with a performance at the Candler Alumni Breakfast May 1.
The choir’s high-energy performances were enthusiastically received by delegates and visitors to General Conference.
The selections of church music from around the globe included classical, contemporary, folk and spirituals.
The group's members are students at Candler School of Theology at Emory University, preparing for a variety of ministries in the church, the academy, and the world.
The singers represent several nations, including South Korea, Congo, Canada, the British Virgin Islands and the United States.
Their final concert of the 2011-2012 academic year is scheduled for 5 p.m. ,May 12, in Cannon Chapel on Emory's campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
