Roswell UMC: Job networking workshop, mini-fair

10/16/2012

The Crossroads Career Network will host a workshop at 1 p.m. Oct. 22, which will be followed by the Roswell UMC’s Job Networking Ministry Mini-Job Fair at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Workshop participants will learn to enhance search skills taught by professional job coaches, local business leaders and human resource professionals volunteering their time. Free resume and Linked In review also are available. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
The evening’s job fair is the 8th event supported by community employers and volunteers, including Roswell Rotary Club, City of Roswell, and local churches such as Fellowship Bible Church.
Employers bring jobs from Greater Atlanta to the Mini-Job Fair, while job seekers carpool and come in vans to meet them. Jobs include upper management, IT professionals, human resources, administrative, financial, legal, pest control, customer service, cleaning professionals, banquet servers, and many more. The list can be found at www.rumcjobnetworking.com. Interested employers can still sign on by contacting lovingyourneighbor@gmail.com.
The church is in historic Roswell at 814 Mimosa Blvd. For directions or a detailed schedule, visit www.rumcjobnetworking.com.
Steve Naughton and Katherine Simons, volunteer leaders with the Job Networking Ministry at Roswell UMC, have been asked to join a planning initiative bringing together the full strength of the Greater Dalton (GA) Chamber of Commerce (Brian Anderson, CEO leading the charge), Dalton area churches, the Department of Labor, Murray County Chamber and Government, and others.
The newly designed event kicks off Oct. 22, 23, and 24 at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton, GA, offering jobs, workshops, resume writing, resume review by professional job coaches, on-site coaching, and much more. No charge for services. The Greater Dalton area has experienced a serious employment set-back due to a reduced customer base for carpeting.
The RUMC Job Networking Ministry is currently involved with start-up programs in the Dalton area, and has coached several locations in Tennessee and Pensacola, FL. The United Methodist Church has produced 25 videos for promoting new area programs. The videos and information about RUMC’s Job Networking Ministry are available through lovingyourneighbor@gmail.com.
