Commerce churches work together for day of service

On Sat., Sept. 8, Commerce First UMC and Warren Chapel UMC joined in a great day of service called “Beyond Our Doors.” More than 300 families received boxes of food, 58 homeless people were fed lunch, 150 people were sent letters of encouragement and appreciation, 56 women and 40 men were given personal care kits, and 12 children and youth at Willoughby Homes were given a mini-Vacation Bible School.
Peachtree Village residents were delighted by the children who decorated and ate cookies with them. Church members also supported the staff at Peace Place Thrift Store and Wellspring Camp for disabled children and adults, where volunteers mowed and trimmed 20 acres of grass.
