Long-term recovery teams needed in aftermath of super-storm Sandy

2/1/2013

Conferences heavily affected by super-storm Sandy are seeking assistance from  recovery volunteer teams. All UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) teams are required to have a trained UMVIM team leader when they sign up to volunteer.
In late October, Sandy swept up the eastern seaboard of the United States causing widespread damage from Florida to Maine and west across the Appalachian Mountains to Michigan and Wisconsin. The most severe damage was in New Jersey and New York. Sandy caused an estimated $60 billion in damage and 131 deaths in the U.S.
For more information on how to help, contact Rev. Thom Shores, North Georgia Disaster Response Chair at 770-949-2555 or email thom.shores@ngumc.net, or Dalton Rushing, conference UMVIM chair, at 770-497-8215.
You can also support continuing recovery work to help Sandy survivors by putting a donation in your offering plate for Hurricanes 2012, UMCOR Advance #3021787.
