Johns Creek UMC worships in new sanctuary
2/16/2013
Johns Creek United Methodist Church opened the doors of their new sanctuary this month. The church's expansion has a worship capacity of 1,640.
The congregation began a special service on Feb. 3 by gathering in the old multipurpose worship space before processing as a group into the new sanctuary. The pews were filled, and those who could not fit in the pews gathered in the aisles and overflow room to watch the service on closed-circuit television.
The church’s pastor, the Rev. Dr. D.B. Shelnutt, Jr., spoke about the rationale behind the church’s massive building campaign, as he described the sanctuary as a place which gave God glory and which served as a beacon for the community.
