Smyrna First UMC: International weekend planned
3/4/2013
The congregation’s first church-wide Global Impact Celebration is planned for March 15-17. The purpose is to celebrate the church’s mission and outreach activities and give the congregation the opportunity to meet missionaries from numerous countries, urban missionaries as well as various mission agencies from around the nation and the metro area. The church also will be transitioning the funding of all mission and outreach activities through a Faith Promise for Missions.
The festivities will begin with a kick-off celebration service on March 15, with a message by the Rev. Dick McClain, president and CEO of The Mission Society. On March 16, the day begins with a family brunch, followed by a family day of service. The day will end with an international banquet and question-and-answer missionary forum.
On March 17, missionaries will visit Sunday school classes. Dr. Steve Dodson of Peachtree City UMC will speak at the morning services and bring the Faith Promise challenge. The weekend ends with a God’s Light Luncheon and celebration of the Faith Promise pledges for missions.
