Vital Congregations: Tucker First Offers 'Cross Training' Worship

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you for a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Tucker First UMC is offering a unique worship experience every Sunday in March. Cross Training Worship is a service for those who want to become more fit physically and spiritually in the same invigorating experience.

Church member Crista Reed has prepared challenging cross training workouts in direct relation to key scriptures and themes from Associate Pastor Rev. Owen Skinner.

The service is at 7 a.m. in the Wesley Center of Tucker First UMC at 2347 Fourth Street, Tucker. The service and the training are free - just remember to bring a bottle of water and an exercise towel with you.

On Easter Sunday, the Cross Training Worship group will be attending the sunrise service on top of Stone Mountain at 7 a.m.

Immediately following the service, the Cross Training Worship group will walk to the pavilion halfway down the walking trail and Reed and Skinner will hold a forty minute workout and worship service.

"I signed up for the Cross Training Worship in order to take advantage of the opportunity to reach some fitness goals I have set for myself," said member Marti Coleman. "I was enlightened though, about how exercise can be worshipful, when put into the context of being reminded that our body is a gift from God. We are responsible for taking care of ourselves as God’s ministers. This realization has changed my entire perspective and the reasons for my fitness goals.I encourage everyone to participate. It’s another chance to be obedient to God’s word. Plus, it’s fun!"
