Lincolnton UMC was recently named Non-Profit Business of the Year by Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.
The church was honored at an awards banquet on Feb. 28. Praised for its service to the community, several of the church's outreach ministries were mentioned at the event including: The Master's Closet, the jail ministry, Club Christ, Turkey 'n' Blessings and River of Life.
Lincolnton UMC pastor Rev. Jim Bocian asked church members to stand as he accepted the award, saying, "They make this happen."
Church member Ken Hayes was named 2013 system-wide Teacher of the Year at the same ceremony.
