Volunteers needed to read with UMCH Jesse's House Kids this summer
4/19/2013
You can be a part of something big this summer by volunteering to read with children at Jesse’s House. A ministry of the United Methodist Children’s Home, Jesse’s House is a safe, holistic summer and after-school program through which impoverished elementary and middle school children, youth and their families connect with the wholeness of God’s love.
This summer, from June 3 through July 25, Jesse’s House will serve nearly 120 children and youth at three Jesse’s House locations: the United Methodist Children’s Home campus in Decatur, North Decatur UMC, and Stone Mountain First UMC.
Volunteer readers are needed at each of the Jesse’s House sites. Each Monday through Thursday of the summer, every child gets one-on-one reading time with an adult. This cannot happen without dedicated volunteers. Groups can sign up to cover one week’s worth of reading volunteers.
What’s more fun than sitting in a room filled with children and your closest friends while enjoying reading a good book?
