Impressive Speakers, Beautiful Setting for Pastors' School

7/8/2013

Beautiful Epworth By The Sea is the backdrop for a time of inspiration, education, fellowship and relaxation with clergy friends from the North and South Georgia conferences and their families. Georgia Pastor's School is July 22-25, 2013.

"All active and retired United Methodist clergy - Elders, Deacons, and Local Pastors - and their families are cordially invited to experience this combination of continuing education and personal renewal," said Kathy Lamon, Co-Chair of Pastor's School. "Morning sessions are lead by today's leaders in ministry with afternoons free for family fun and exploration.  We gather each evening for a time of powerful worship and fellowship."

The theme this year is "Preaching - Different Voices, Common Word."  Lecturers include two renown preachers in the church today:

Rev. J. Ellsworth Kalas - Beeson Distinguished Preacher in Residence at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky and author of "The Backside" series, The Grand Sweep and many others.  He is a treasure in ministry with the ability to challenge us to weave the story in scripture in entertaining and thought provoking ways.

Dr. James Howell - Senior Pastor of Myers Park UMC in Charlotte, North Carolina and adjunct professor of preaching at Duke Divinity School.  Dr. Howell is a noted author and a featured preacher at the Festival of Homiletics.

Our featured preacher for worship each evening is Bishop Violet L. Fisher.  Bishop Fisher served the New York West Area from 2000-2008.  Each evening we will experience a different style of worship with Bishop Fisher challenging us to proclaim the Word.

Pastors' School is not just for the adults, but fun for PKs too!  Exciting programs are planned each morning and during evening worship services.  Age appropriate activities are  available from nursery to 18 years at a nominal cost.  Don't forget, when you register for Pastors' School, please be sure and provide all information for children participating in the PK Program.
