Representatives from the North Georgia Conference attended the annual United Methodist Association of Communicators meeting in Chicago this past weekend. Each year communicators from across the denomination gather together for informative workshops, worship, and an awards banquet honoring excellence in communication.
Tim Schraeder, co-founder of the Center for Church Communication, attended as a special keynote speaker and workshop host on social media. Other workshops focused on News Writing, Team Building, Task Management, Multimedia, and Communicating through Disaster.
Illinois Bishop, Sally Dyck, lead the first worship service of the weekend, expressing the importance of everyone telling their story. Attendees also received opportunities to join in worship services at Chicago Temple First UMC and Urban Village UMC.
At the awards banquet, the North Georgia Conference Instagram account took 1st place in the Social Media category due to its “fun and relevant” photos. North Georgia placed second in the E-Newsletter category for Monday Morning in North Georgia. Judges remarked that the newsletter displayed “good visual and strong story lines.”
Next year’s meeting will take place in Georgia’s own Historic Savannah.
