Our prayers go out to the communities in the Midwest that have been devastated by the severe weather and tornadoes last week. UMCOR is currently on the scene partnering in the relief efforts and stands by their reputation for being the first on the scene and the last to leave. UMCOR is our connectional system at it’s best.
There are several ways to help both now and in the future:
1. Prayer: As the scriptures teach us, pray without ceasing. This is something we can all do – right now.
2. Monetary Donations: Through our connectional system, 100% of your donations made to UMOCR through will be given to the disaster – not to administrative costs. Monetary donations enable UMCOR to serve those affected in the ways that are most useful.
Donations can be made through any United Methodist Church or sent to:
Conference Treasurer's Office
PO Box 102417
Atlanta, GA 30368-2417
and marked U.S. Disaster Response
You can also text the word RESPONSE to #80888 for an immediate $10 donation to UMCOR.
3. UMCOR relief kits: Your church can collect and assemble relief kits, which are distributed through the UMCOR Depot, Sager Brown in Louisiana. Instructions for the UMCOR kits can be found at www.umcor.org. You are responsible for arranging shipment of kits that are assembled.
4. ERT’s and work teams: North Georgia Conference ERT and UMVIM teams can deploy to these areas UPON INVITATION. Please do not self-deploy. We will post details and keep you informed as an invitation is extended and these opportunities become available.
