Amazing Grace Offering: Thank You for Answering the Call

Sunday, September 17, was a busy, yet exciting, day around the North Georgia Conference for The United Methodist Children’s Home. Generous churches across our conference began taking the annual Amazing Grace Offering! The Amazing Grace Offering allows The Children’s Home to minister to more children and families experiencing trauma in more places across the North Georgia Conference.
 
This year, The Children’s Home is experiencing great change as the organization relocates from its Decatur campus this fall and expands its ministry across North Georgia. Currently, our Children’s Home serves 135 foster children per day. However, our goal is to serve 500 children per day by the year 2020. Staff and leadership are grateful to be in such a position to respond to the child welfare crisis in Georgia. Even still, your Children’s Home says “no” at least 30 times per week because we do not have enough foster families, yet.
 
Congregations, such as yours, saying “yes” and joining in the Amazing Grace Offering helps rectify this crisis. The funds raised in the Amazing Grace Offering help identify, recruit, and train more foster families. Just this week, the Children's Home approved the Jackson family from Simpsonwood UMC to foster children in their home! The Jackson family answered the call to foster and said, “yes”. They said “yes” to provide hospitality to a foster child. They said “yes” to provide a loving, compassionate, and nurturing home. They said “yes” to The Children’s Home Foster Care ministry in Jesus’ name.

The funds churches provide through the Amazing Grace Offering will help recruit, approve, and support foster parents like the Jacksons and the children they welcome into their homes. If your church has already received the Amazing Grace Offering or is planning to receive the offering, thank you.
