Annual Conference Daily Update: Monday, June 11

6/11/2018

Welcome to Annual Conference 2018!

"I invite you to join me in prayer for our North Georgia Annual Conference this week in Athens. May we be filled with grace and empowered for mission." —Bishop Sue

Thousands of North Georgia United Methodists and guests began arriving in Athens this week for the 2018 Annual Conference session. Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson will preside over the three-day annual meeting June 12-14. The focus will be on spiritual disciplines and the theme "Moving Toward Perfection in Love."

We will consider how we might truly be "One with Christ" during four teaching times focused on Spiritual Disciplines.

The Conference will be anchored by four worship services, each planned and led by talented North Georgia United Methodists. The services themselves will progress through the stages of worship. We will begin Tuesday afternoon with "Gathering" (Opening Worship), move into "The Word Proclaimed" (Service of Remembrance), then "A Time of Response" (Ordination), and "Sending Forth" (Closing Worship).

When we're not gathering for worship, we'll be gathering for shared meals, learning experiences, giving blood, hitting the streets for our annual 5k, and taking time for contemplative prayer or morning communion.

The Laity will forego their usual orientation session Tuesday and will instead drop-in to see ministry of the laity in action. Read more about it in "What's New At Annual Conference 2018."

Those not in Athens are invited to follow along this week by live stream. All sessions, beginning with opening worship on Tuesday, June 12, at 2 p.m., are available to stream live. Watch at www.ngumc.org/livestreamAC2018.
