North Georgia will welcome nationally-known United Methodist author, coach, and speaker Kay Kotan November 9 to 12. Over that time she will lead three workshops open to your congregation.
On Thursday, Nov. 9, Kotan will lead Single Board Model Training. The workshop will be from 6 to 8:30 pm at Decatur First UMC. In the training she'll help your church answer the question: more meetings or more mission? Attending this workshop will give you some Discipline-approved options for restructuring your committees into a single board and help you re-imagine how your church can focus more on fulfilling its mission and less on running meetings. Register at www.ngumc.org/GetTheirName.
On Saturday and Sunday she'll help us learn how to invite others to our church, a topic she tackles in her book, "Get Their Name." If your congregation is seeking new people but unsure about how to attract them or wondering, “How do we develop relationships with unchurched people? How do I share my own story or experience of Jesus with others? How can my church build a culture of invitation? And how do we know if we as a church are ready to receive those we invite?" consider attending the Get Their Name Workshop at North Springs UMC on Saturday, November 11 from 9 am to 3 pm, or at Wesley Chapel UMC in McDonough Sunday, November 12, from 2 to 6 p.m.
"When I saw Kay lead this workshop in the Tennessee Conference, I witnessed the excitement that was generated among congregational teams as they developed ideas for new ways of doing ministry," said Rev. Dr. Tonya Lawrence. "I believe this will be equally engaging for participants here in North Georgia."
