Banner Year for North Georgia Conference Clergy Retirees

4/14/2016

The Annual Conference theme "Bound for Greater Things" will have a special meaning for as many as 38 North Georgia Conference clergy who have announced that they will retire in June. This is a large number for the Conference. Among those retiring are Rev. Mike Selleck, long-time director of Connectional Ministries, and Atlanta-Marietta District Superintendent Jim Lowry.

"This is a trend we will continue to see," said Rev. Jane Brooks, director of Ministerial Services and Assistant to the Bishop, of the large retirement class.

The retirees will participate in a Passing of the Mantle liturgy with new ordinands during Annual Conference on Wednesday, June 8, before the Recognition of Retirees.

Members of the Annual Conference will also celebrate the ministry of Bishop Mike Watson and Margaret Watson as they prepare for retirement in September. Read a letter from the Cabinet, Episcopal Committee, and Board of Laity about that special service here.

NOTE: If you are a retiring North Georgia Conference clergy person and are having a retirement celebration or reception open to all, you're invited to share the details in the comments section below.
