General Conference Q&A: Rev. Byron Thomas

Clergy delegate Byron Thomas was part of the call to worship as General Conference opened Friday. We previously caught up with him to hear a little about his committee work and his hopes for General Conference.

What type of legislation is your committee considering?

My committee will be addressing various issues related to the environment, war and peace, permissiveness in Annual Conference structure, reducing the size of the Church and Society board, privatization, and others.

How have you prepared for General Conference?

I have prepared for GC by taking time to study the legislation related to the committee to which I have been assigned, engaged in dialogue about various legislation, attended listening sessions, and prayer.

What are your hopes for this General Conference?

My hopes is that the Spirit of God will not only be welcome in our conversations but that we will seek the will of God through prayer.
