Churches to Gather for Services, Prayer on September 11

8/26/2016

A number of North Georgia United Methodist Churches will host or take part in special services and times of prayer in recognition of the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The congregation of Roswell United Methodist Church invites the community to a Service of Hope in observance of the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. The service will be held in the Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 11 a.m. (traditional) on Sunday, Sept. 11. In 2001, our lives as Americans were forever changed and we will take a look back at that fateful day, recognize and celebrate the first responders among us, and glean insight from the ensuing unity that we experienced as a nation and as a community of believers. Please join us for this message of hope.

Decatur churches will gather on Sept. 11 for a pot-luck meal and an interfaith service. Bring a favorite, simple dish to share, a lawn chair, and an open
mind and heart to the interfaith gathering to recognize the 15th anniversary of 9-11. The event will start at 3 p.m. with the potluck meal and the service will begin at 4 p.m. focusing on the theme “Remember, Reconcile, and Relate.” The event will take place at the Ebster Pavilion, 404 W. Trinity Place.

Please share events and opportunities happening in your community by posting in the comments or emailing communications@ngumc.org.
