Delivering Christmas Cheer by the Truckload: Join Us December 2 in Roswell

11/29/2018

What makes for the perfect Christmas gift this season? According to statistics, it’s sharing experiences with family and friends. To fulfill that Christmas wish, The United Methodist Church is presenting The True Meaning of Christmas Tour.

The Tour will travel to 11 cities across the nation in a gift-wrapped truck offering free hot cocoa and family-friendly fun, while connecting visitors with a reminder of what Christmas is all about. The Tour will stop in Roswell, Georgia, December 2 from 3 to 7 pm as part of the Caroling on Canton Street event.

“We want to help people remember that celebrating Christmas is not about to-do lists and shopping," said Dan Krause, chief executive of United Methodist Communications. "We want to invite you to connect with a local United Methodist church to experience fellowship and explore the true meaning of Christmas.”

Pew Research found that the things people least liked about Christmas were related to commercialism and materialism. They would rather spend their time with family and friends. The True Meaning of Christmas Tour fits the bill for what people are looking for in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The tour stop coincides with Action Ministries Sunday in North Georgia. Churches across our Conference will collect a special offering that day to go toward breaking the cycle of poverty for your neighbors in need.

"Action Ministries helps us live out our calling to serve all year," said Sybil Davidson, North Georgia Conference communicator. "It will be a fitting end to the day to serve hot cocoa and warm invitations in a North Georgia community on Action Ministries Sunday!"

United Methodists from across the Conference are invited to join the truck team to host festivities that include free hot cocoa and an interactive photo booth for capturing memories.

Volunteers are welcome December 2 in Roswell. If you'd like to hand out hot cocoa and a warm welcome to visit a United Methodist church, email Sybil Davidson at sdavidson@ngumc.org for details.
