Room at the Table: Celebrating People of All Abilities
There is always room at God’s table for everyone! You are invited to join us August 13 at 10:30 am in Cannon Chapel at Emory University to experience inclusive worship that is inviting to people with mental health, sensory, intellectual and other disabilities. Stay to learn best practices through workshops on Mental Health (Rev. Susan Gregg-Schroeder), Best Practices for Ushers and Greeters (Howard Guetherman), Accessibility Tour (Lynn Swedberg), and Multi-sensory Worship (Lynn Swedberg). Lunch is included. Parking is in Peavine Parking Lot and hosts will guide you to Cannon Chapel.
Explore the “Theology of Hymns” with Candler Faculty
Sundays, Summer 2017
Ten Candler faculty members and two other members of the Emory community are participating in Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church’s 2017 summer lecture series, “Theology of Hymns: Songs that Shape Us.” The lectures will take place on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. in Glenn’s Ward Fellowship Hall between the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services. The sessions are free, and all are welcome.
Creative Worship Conference
Anyone involved in putting together worship is encouraged to register for a Creative Worship Conference on November 4. The event, to be held at Impact UMC, is about crafting meaningful, transformative worship experiences that last beyond Sunday. This training is for churches of any size, with traditional or contemporary services, and is best experienced as a team. Join Jason Moore of Midnight Oil who will lead the training. The event is co-sponsored by Connectional Ministries, Congregational Development, and Impact Church.
Fresh Expressions Spark Day
Want to learn more about the Fresh Expressions movement? Join us September 30 for an interactive worship to discover tools to start Fresh Expressions in your community. The training will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Oak Grove UMC. Check back for registration information.
