Flat Shoals UMC Celebrates First GED Ceremony

Flat Shoals UMC in the Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford District celebrated a historic moment this spring with the celebration of its first GED presentation ceremony. Student Tre’Laric Roberts passed the State of Georgia test with flying colors.  

In addition, Princie Rambert, a senior member of the church received an honorary degree for her participation and academic achievement in the program.  

"Flat Shoals began this journey in the fall of September 2014 with a vision and a prayer to transform lives," said pastor Rev. Hubert Brown. "The church remains committed and focused on the future to graduate many more."

There are four candidates who are potential graduates that are being prepared to take the State examine. Politicians, educators, activists, community leaders, ministers, churches, and the community attended this event.  Dr. Betty Jones, pastor of County Line UMC, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony.
