Leading Edge Learning Series Welcomes Mark DeYmaz

The North Georgia Conference Center for Congregational Excellence continued its 4-part Leading Edge Learning Series in September with pastor, author, and innovator Mark DeYmaz

The two events included a Friday night dinner and discussion on September 24 at Point First Mallalieu UMC and a day-long learning event on Saturday, September 25, at The Nett UMC's Berkmar Campus in Lilburn.

In the sessions, DeYmaz provided the biblical mandate for the multi-ethnic church and outlined seven core commitments required to bring it about. Additionally, he shared both a theological and practical vision for churches to not only survive but thrive in the future by learning to leverage assets, bless the community, empower entrepreneurs, and create multiple streams of income to fund their mission effectively. A digital download of the training will be made available at a later date.

Below are a few key thoughts DeYmaz shared:

  • Outside the walls of the church, "Nobody is listening because our message is unbelievable to an increasingly diverse, polarized, and cynical society."
  • In order to advance a credible gospel, we must disrupt our models of the church, our witness, and our economics.
  • It's time to move to a 21st century operating system with 7 shifts:
    1) Explanation to demonstration,
    2) Size to influence,
    3) Senior pastor to team-based management,
    4) Buy land/build new to repurpose existing property,
    5) Sustaining innovation to disruptive innovation,
    6) Homogeneity to multiethnicity,
    7) Tithes & offerings to multiple streams of income.
All are invited to take part in the upcoming sessions of the Leading Edge Learning Series! Check back for details and registration on these events:

In his first book, "Hearts On Fire: Your Roadmap to an Exciting Love-Filled Life," the Rev. Robert King guides you through a roadmap leading toward an exciting life and love.
