Members of the North Georgia Conference raised a record-setting $301,514 for Wesley Woods through the Mother’s Day Offering. The Mother’s Day Offering provides critical funding for charitable assistance for housing and meals, wellness programming, and pastoral care to older adults living in a Wesley Woods community.
At its annual Pastor Appreciation Lunch, Wesley Woods recognized churches for their remarkable support of the 2019 Wesley Woods Mother's Day Offering. Dunwoody UMC and Rev. Dan Brown were recognized for the highest giving to this year's Mother's Day Offering. Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson along with Rev. Dr. Bill Britt of Peachtree Road UMC presented Rev. Dr. Tom Davis the “Thanks-a-Million” Award for more than $1 million in giving to Wesley Woods by the Roswell UMC congregation. Roswell UMC is the second church to reach this level of giving.
A highlight of the lunch each year is the recognition of the Malone Dodson Clergy Award recipient. Since 1998, the Malone Dodson Clergy Award has been given annually by the Foundation of Wesley Woods to the clergy person in the North Georgia Conference who best exemplifies visionary leadership with respect to older adults. This year's recipient was Rev. Dr. Ed Tomlinson for his tireless commitment to the ministry of Wesley Woods.
