One With Each Others: North Georgia to Gather in Athens Next Week

More than 2,000 North Georgia United Methodists and guests will arrive in Athens next week for the 2019 Annual Conference session. Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson will preside over the four-day annual "family reunion" June 11-14. The focus will be on our theme, "One With Each Other."

"I love to gather at Annual Conference to celebrate our common mission, share how we can better introduce folks to Jesus Christ, and energize our leadership to go home and serve sacrificially," said Bishop Sue.

The Conference will be anchored by four worship services, each planned and led by talented North Georgia United Methodists. The services themselves will progress through the stages of worship. We will begin Tuesday afternoon with "Gathering" (Opening Worship) with Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson preaching. Wednesday we will move into "The Word Proclaimed" (Service of Remembrance) with Rev. Dr. David Naglee preaching. Thursday evening we will celebrate "A Time of Response" (Ordination) with Rev. Dr. Alice Rogers preaching. Friday will be our "Sending Forth" (Closing Worship) with Rev. Dr. Michael McQueen preaching.

When we're not gathering for worship, we'll be gathering for shared meals, service projects, learning experiences, hitting the streets for our annual 5k, and taking time for contemplative prayer or morning communion. We'll learn from renowned pastor and peacemaker Rev. Dr. Gary Mason. We will continue beloved traditions and try some new things! Learn more about "what's new" in What to Expect: 5 New Things to Know at AC 2019.

Members of the 2019 Annual Conference will elect delegates to the 2020 United Methodist General and Jurisdictional Conferences.

Those not in Athens are invited to follow along this week by live stream. All sessions, beginning with opening worship on Tuesday, June 11, at 2 p.m., are available to stream live.
