PAUMCS Members 'Make a Joyful Noise' in Nashville

The 36th Annual Conference of the Professional Administrators of The United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS) was held recently in Nashville, Tennessee under the theme, “Make a Joyful Noise.”

From North Georgia, Jackie Powers, Karen Whitehead, Juliet Blevins, Josie Hickom, Denise Wilson, Lesley Baskette, Katrina Simmons, Sherise Davis, Denise Louis, Ruth Sims, Patti Ruane, and Gail Grantham attended.

Participants in the conference worshipped, learned, and networked with other church professionals from across the denomination. For fun, some got to tour the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The event was opened by the Rev. Junius Dotson, General Secretary of Discipleship Ministries. The Rev. Jacob Armstrong preached and helped celebrate those who completed the 2017 on-line certification class. North Georgia's own Katrina Simmons, a member of the 2017 class, spoke about her experience.

Other speakers at the event include Dr. Diana DeWitt on Spiritual Health, Mr. Bob Christophel from WesPath, the Rev. Stephen Handy on Encouragement for the Encourager, the Rev. Scott Aleridge on Innovative Connectional Strategies, the Rev. Dr. Jacqui King on Partnerships, and Bishop Bill McAlilly on Compassionate Ministry.

The mission focus was End Slavery Tennessee, an organization that promotes healing of human trafficking survivors and strategically confronts slavery in the state of Tennessee.

PAUMCS closed with an exciting announcement about next year’s annual conference. PAUMCS Annual Conference at Sea will be March 14-18, 2019, sponsored by Educational Opportunities. Guest speakers will be Mike and Carolyn Slaughter and Catherine Crowell of Ginghamsburg UMC. Find more information at
