The Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown, district superintendent and missional strategist for the Central South District of the North Georgia Conference, is the featured preacher June 20 on “Day 1” with host Peter Wallace, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast.
“Is Jesus in Your Boat?” Brown’s sermon for June 20, is based on the story in Mark 4: 35-41. Jesus sleeps in the stern when the boat carrying him and the disciples is caught in a storm on the Sea of Galilee. “Maybe you have had that same experience. Perhaps you’re experiencing something now where you’re struggling to keep your head above water, and you can’t figure out why God is silent,” Brown says. “Where is God in the midst of your storm?”
Across his ministry career Brown has served in churches as a youth minister, associate pastor, executive pastor, and pastor. He led efforts for new church plants in Atlanta and Newnan. For 17 years, he worked as chaplain and vice president for spiritual life at LaGrange College. While at the college, he served on the staff of LaGrange First UMC. Brown will begin his next appointment as pastor of Snellville First UMC on July 1.
Brown is also author of a number of books, the latest is “Discipleship Path: Guiding Congregations to Connect with Jesus.”
The program includes interviews with Brown conducted by Wallace, who is also executive producer.
