Six North Georgia Conference United Methodists participated in the EarthKeepers program of Global Ministries this summer. Shirley Alcorn, Caleb Jeavons, Aylis Mceuen, Valerie Rawls, Rebecca Ricks, and Deidra Wright are among 45 new EarthKeepers who will be commissioned on Monday, Nov. 12.
EarthKeepers is a training program of Global Ministries to equip United Methodists in the United States for environmental stewardship. Participants spend three and a half days immersed in discussions on theology, United Methodist resources, and United Methodist entry points into environmental stewardship, and then use what they learn to develop an environmental project for their churches and communities. It serves as both a launchpad for people looking to turn an idea into action, and an incubator for people who want to deepen an existing ministry. Participants develop plans in conversation with their peers, troubleshooting strategies and sharing wisdom.
Global Ministries will commission this class of EarthKeepers in an online service on Monday, Nov. 12. Please join via livestream at www.umcmission.org/live
