On November 5, Terry and Sue Raymond were surprised with a presentation of the prestigious Southeastern Jurisdiction Siedschlag Award. This award is given annually to one individual (or in this case, couple) who serve as extraordinary mission interpreters and have a strong commitment to mission work in the SEJ.
“Terry and Sue, it is truly an honor to present the Siedschlag Award to you," said Rev. Scott Parrish. "You are two who know the significance of this award and were chosen unanimously as this year's recipients."
The Raymonds are members of Zoar UMC in the Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford District and are active and effective leaders in mission work at the local church, district, and conference levels. The award was presented to them at the North Georgia Conference offices where they were taking part in a missionary interview. They were surrounded by members of the Conference Cabinet, Conference Mission Committee, and Conference Staff.
Just last month, the Conference lifted up the ministry of the Raymonds in a special Thanksgiving feature story, "Giving Thanks for Terry and Sue Raymond: Models of Quiet, Steady Leadership and Service"
This is the second time a North Georgia Conference layperson has received the award. In 2017, Mike Yoder received the Siedschlag Award to honor his impact and involvement in UMCOR, VOAD, and Conference Disaster Response work.
