UMCOR has awarded a solidarity grant to the North Georgia Conference to support initial relief efforts for the damage caused by severe weather and tornados on Easter Sunday. Grants were also awarded to the Mississippi Conference and the South Carolina Conference.

"The immediate response of the North Georgia Conference to assess and assist those among the most vulnerable who have suffered significant loss due to the recent tornadoes is evidence of a resurrection people extending care on behalf of a loving God and the people called United Methodist," wrote Cathy Earl, director of UMCOR, in a letter to Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson.

The Conference is already at work through Rev. Lathem Postell and the congregation of Center Valley UMC in Chatsworth where 7 people were killed by an overnight tornado.

Giving

"During this time of great need, let's all lean into the connection by giving to UMCOR, to our related agencies like Action Ministries, and to your local church," said Bishop Sue.

To give to support the work of UMCOR, donate to U.S. disaster response through Advance #901670 at https://advance.umcor.org/p-620-umcor-us-disaster-response-and-recovery.aspx or give through your local church to North Georgia Conference Disaster Response by using Fund #4390.
