Webers Honored through Wellness Center Naming

(L to R): Rev. Donn Ann Weber and Mr. Kenneth R. Weber

The leaders of the Foundation of Wesley Woods and Wesley Woods Senior Living recently dedicated the Wellness Centers at Asbury Harris Epworth Towers and Branan Towers to retired CEO of Wesley Woods, Mr. Kenneth R. Weber and Rev. Donn Ann Weber, Conference Secretary of The North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church.

“Over my years of working at Wesley Woods, I discovered that seniors who remained physically, mentally and spiritually active lived longer, healthier and more satisfying lives,” said Mr. Weber, “I often saw the negative impact on seniors when these services were not available. It became a hope that Wesley Woods could offer a comprehensive and professionally coordinated wellness program to residents in all of our communities.”

Both Wellness Centers serve as places for seniors to participate in the Wesley Woods Wellness Program, which is the first age-specific, outcomes-based Wellness Program for seniors in the Southeast. The program is designed to address falls, injuries and chronic disease through on-site access to wellness nursing and therapy, as well as age-specific physical fitness and nutrition classes. Wellness staff are focused on individualizing a wellness strategy for each older adult, taking into account their health status, personal needs and interests.

“We believe these Wellness Centers are a vital part of older adults being able to live lives full of purpose and living well. Those residents are truly our heroes and heroines!” said Rev. Weber.

“The majority of seniors served at Asbury Harris Epworth Towers and Branan Towers are living below the poverty level and suffer disproportionally from chronic diseases and falls. Since these are HUD-subsidized housing options, all that’s provided by the government is a roof over their heads – the rest has to come from caring people in the community. Thanks to Mr. and Rev. Weber, residents now have access to wellness programming that allows them to live longer, more fulfilling lives.” said Tracy Crump, President & CEO of the Foundation of Wesley Woods.

Asbury Harris Epworth Towers is located at 3033 Continental Colony Pkwy SW in Atlanta.

Branan Towers is located at 1200 Glenwood Avenue SE in Atlanta.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Wesley Woods offers housing and supportive services for older adults throughout North Georgia. More than 1,800 older adults, 75 percent of whom need financial assistance and over forty percent of whom live below the poverty level, are served annually in Wesley Woods residential communities, primarily in independent living settings.
