Work Teams Needed for North Georgia's #SheetrockArmy


Your church is invited to send a team to join the North Georgia Conference #SheetrockArmy to provide help and hope to neighbors across the southeast. There is an overwhelming need for Disaster Response teams and we in North Georgia are perfectly positioned to help. We were among the first to get there after hurricanes struck and we've promised to be among the last to leave. Here are some of the nearby needs and how a team from your church can connect and serve:

Alabama-West Florida Conference  
Hurricane Michael Recovery
Where: Panama City, Port St. Joe, and Marianna, Florida
Needs: Trained work teams who can spend several days at a time. This will be an ongoing need for years to come.
Lodging Options: Housing may be provided depending on availability.

Florida Annual Conference 
Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Irma Recovery
Where: Central Florida (Polk, Highlands, Desoto, and Hardee Counties) and the Tampa Bay Region (Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties) through Spring 2020. Monroe (Keys), Collier, and Hendry Counties through Fall of 2020.
Needs: All work is home repair including drywall installation, trim, painting, and flooring, to “punchlist” items. Small teams of 5-7 are ideal.

North Carolina Conference 
Hurricane Matthew, Hurricane Florence, and Hurricane Dorian Recovery
Where: The North Carolina Conference has 15 disaster centers (9 full centers with 6 satellite locations) throughout eastern North Carolina
Need: Currently working on 211 homes and have 686 under case management awaiting assistance.

Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery
Where: Conference Disaster Recovery is focusing its efforts in the upper Pee Dee and Grand Strand areas
Need: Teams are needed for work on 230 homes over the next two years

South Georgia Conference  
Hurricane Michael Recovery
Where: Decatur, Early, Miller, and Seminole Counties in southwest Georgia
Needs: Tree removal and demolition, tearing out insulation and sheetrock, painting, carpentry, doors, and floors
Lodging Options: Currently housing teams at Friendship UMC for groups of up to 22 people and Faceville UMC for groups of 8 or less
