Sharma Lewis

Sharma, a native of Statesboro, Georgia, is a 1985 graduate of Mercer University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a 1988 graduate of the University of West Georgia, with a Master of Science degree in Biology.
Prior to her call to ministry, she was a biologist in the academic and corporate sectors.  After answering God’s call to ministry, she entered Gammon Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia where she earned a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies with honors. Sharma was ordained an Elder in 2002.
Currently Sharma is appointed as the Atlanta Decatur Oxford District Superintendent. Previous appointments include: Wesley Chapel UMC (McDonough), Powers Ferry UMC, and Ben Hill UMC.
Sharma is the recipient of the 2010 Harry Denman Evangelism Award and the G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award. She has served on numerous committees, boards and task forces representing the United Methodist Church.
This is Sharma’s first General Conference, where she serves as Head of the North Georgia Clergy Delegation.
