Renfro Trust

The Renfro Trust Fund awards annual bricks-and-mortar grants to small rural United Methodist congregations in the Southeastern Jurisdiction. The Renfro Trust Grant was established in the 1950s from the estate of Judge William E. Renfro and his wife "to be used for the purpose of establishing and supporting United Methodist churches in rural areas of the United States within the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church." Typically we only forward the top application from North Georgia for consideration by SEJ and the award amount is $2500-5000 based on available grant funds.

Applications are received from June to August each year, & must be submitted by August 1.  Below are two versions of the application. One version of the application is to print and complete by hand (& then scan into electronic form) or the other may be used and completed on a computer. Note signatures need to be by hand regardless. Please be sure your District Superintendent is involved with you and signs off on the form. Email your completed application to scott.parrish@ngumc.net.  If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Scott Parrish by email or by calling 678-533-1374. Our North Georgia Conference subcommittee advances one NGA church for consideration to the SEJ board which will make a late fall decision. This is a competitive award and churches must have a good plan, submit all of the requested information, and have shown they have funds in hand and are working to make their plan a reality.
